Hormone shifts can disrupt the sleep that keeps hunger in check.
A drop in energy can be an early sign your metabolism is shifting, not just a busy schedule.
Bone loss can speed up in perimenopause. Even when you feel fine.
Estrogen dropping can make weight harder to manage, even when your habits haven’t changed.
Shifting hormones can affect the brain chemicals that help keep your mood steady.
That’s completely fine. Your clinician focuses on weight first. Anything else only comes up if it’s actually relevant and you want support for it, not because it’s required.
Not at all. That’s what your clinician is for. We’ll help you make sense of what’s going on and build the right plan around it.
We’ll help you find what works for you instead. Your goals and health history shape your plan, which might include GLP-1s, hormones, or something else entirely.

“Our clinicians take the time to really understand your experience, so every evidence-based recommendation actually makes sense for you.”

Finalize your plan and start care
Our clinicians specialize in both women's metabolic health and hormone health, including perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause. That means they’re trained to consider how hormones, life stage, reproductive history, and biology interact, and to distinguish between symptoms that respond to hormone therapy and those that need a different approach. Your health history, cancer risk, and reproductive background all factor into how we prescribe, monitor, and adjust your care.
GLP-1 medications influence appetite and insulin sensitivity—both of which intersect with hormonal health. We consider menstrual changes, PCOS, perimenopause, and reproductive planning when guiding treatment.
Perimenopause typically begins in your 40s (though it can start earlier) and may include irregular cycles, sleep disruption, mood changes, brain fog, hot flashes, and joint pain. Many symptoms overlap with other conditions, which is why a provider review is helpful. We'll review your history and symptoms to help you understand what's happening.
We prescribe FDA-approved GLP-1 medications only, including semaglutide (Wegovy, Ozempic), tirzepatide (Zepbound), and orforglipron (Foundayo). We don’t offer compounded formulations. Pricing starts from $149/month self-pay or as low as $25/month with qualifying insurance coverage, depending on medication and dose. See full pricing details here.
Common side effects can include nausea, fatigue, constipation, or gastrointestinal discomfort. Hormonal shifts can also influence how women experience them, which is why we adjust dosing thoughtfully and proactively. GLP-1 medications can also carry serious risks, which your provider will review with you.
For most women, HRT can be safe and effective when prescribed appropriately but is not suitable for everyone. While outdated studies raised concerns, current research shows HRT can reduce symptoms and help protect heart, bone, and brain health—especially when started during perimenopause or early menopause. Your provider will review your personal health history, discuss risks and benefits, and help determine if it's right for you.
We prescribe a range of options tailored to your symptoms and health history, including birth control, vaginal estrogen, estrogen-only therapy, and combined estrogen and progesterone (prescribed separately so your clinician can dial in each dose). For women who prefer or aren't candidates for hormonal treatment, we also prescribe non-hormonal options including SSRIs/SNRIs, gabapentin, and medications for incontinence. Your provider will recommend what fits.
Your provider can review your current treatment, adjust your dosing or formulation, and optimize your plan. Many women aren't on the right dose or delivery method for their needs.
Most GLP-1 programs stop at the prescription. Maven integrates GLP-1 care into a broader women’s health model—combining clinical oversight, nutrition guidance, side effect and muscle-preserving support, and hormone-aware care across life stages.
It depends on your plan, and coverage can look different for GLP-1s vs. hormone medications. Many insurers cover GLP-1 medications for Type 2 diabetes, but coverage for weight management is more variable. Before you start, we'll help you understand your benefits and walk through self-pay pricing if it’s not covered. Hormone medications are typically covered by insurance (copays may apply), prescribed by Maven and filled and billed through your pharmacy.
Your care team includes prescribing clinicians who specialize in women’s metabolic and
hormone health—available for visits and messaging throughout your care—along with a
nutrition coach and a strength coach. Your first nutrition and strength consultations are
included; you can book additional visits as your care evolves. Through Maven's virtual clinic,
you can also connect with providers across 30+ specialties, including OB-GYNs, mental health
providers, and reproductive health specialists.
